A large man, though not particularly intelligent, Robert was once a renowned warrior. In his youth he was described as tall, broad shouldered and muscled like a maiden’s fantasy. He kept himself clean shaven. However, after winning the crown he become overweight from excessive feasting and drinking, eventually gaining over eight stone in weight and growing a beard to hide his multiple chins. He was known for his charm, outgoing and gregarious personality and remarkable ability to turn enemies into friends. According to Eddard Stark Robert would promise a woman the world in the night and forget everything (including her) in the morning. Robert Baratheon was eldest son. When his parents died in a shipwreck in sight of their castle, Storm’s End, Robert was raised by Jon Arryn. While in The Vale he met Eddard Stark, another foster-child of Arryn, and they became fast friends. Later he was set to be married to Eddard’s sister, Lyanna Stark, whom he loved deeply, albeit from a distance . When Rhaegar Targaryen apparently kidnapped her, Robert was driven almost mad by the thought of Rhaegar raping her. Together with Eddard and their foster father Jon Arryn, he started the War of the Unsurper. Although he won the rebellion and killed Rhaegar, Lyanna died during the conflict. Robert was thereafter haunted by her memory and the desire for further vengeance against the slain Rhaegar. His hatred was so great that when Tywin Lannister presented Robert with the mutilated bodies of Rhaegar’s wife and two young children, Robert was actually pleased they were dead. Robert took the Iron Throne of the Seven Kingdoms thanks to a distant relation to the Targaryens, his grandmother being Rhaelle Targaryen, and married Cersei Lannister in a political marriage intended to bring stability to the kingdom. During there wedding night Robert, while drunk, accidently called her Lyanna, an act that earned him his new wife’s hatred.

Renly is a handsome and charismatic man, winning friends easily, but also strikes some people as frivolous.Renly enjoys tournaments and hunting but isn’t driven by the passion for food, drink, or wenching, as Robert Baratheon came to be. He is twenty-one years old, tall, handsome man with black hair falling to his shoulders.He is thought to look eerily similar to a young Robert Baratheon. He wears a suit of enameled green armor with a helm that had a pair of golden antlers.He keeps his body trim and his thick, jet-black hair long but always neatly combed. He prefers to be clean-shaven. Renly was born the youngest son of three to Steffon Baratheon and Cassana Estermont. During Robert’s Rebellion, Renly was not involved in the fighting and was kept safe and secure to ensure he was not taken hostage.Though Renly is Robert’s youngest brother, Robert gave the Baratheon seat of Storm’s End rather to him rather than Stannis who was given Dragonstone instead. During the Targaryen dynasty, the seat of Dragonstone was given to the heir to the Iron Throne. The lands of Storm’s End are considerably larger and richer than those of Dragonstone, giving Renly more power than his older brother. Durign his time in Storm’s End, Renly has taken Loras Tyrell, as a squire, with whom he forged a close friendship that continues to this day.

Joffrey Baratheon is the eldest son and heir of King Robert Baratheon and Queen Cersei Lannister. However, his real father is Jaime Lannister, the queen’s brother. Joffrey was strong-willed as a child and has an uncontrollable temper not unlike his mother’s and an unchecked sadistic streak. He has little sense of right or wrong, which often leads him to trouble, especially when he loses his temper and when things go wrong, he always blames the problems on others. Despite being willfull he is reckless, cruel and prone to irrational and bad judgements. Joffrey has the Lannister look of his parents, he is tall for a boy his age, with blond curly hair and handsome. He has bright green eyes, pouty lips and an evil sneer. He always wears the finest clothing and accents, as befits the royal heir and king. Joffrey was born of incest to Queen Cersei Lannister and her brother Jaime. However, the truth of his birth has been kept a secret and he was presented to the world as the son of King King Robert Baratheon and heir to the Iron Throne. He grew up as a spoiled and indulgent child with a cruel streak within him. Robert never questioned the boy’s parentage, but it is made clear throughout the books that he was deeply disappointed with his ‘son’ and felt little affection for Joffrey. By contrast, it is also implied that Joffrey craved Robert’s respect and approval, and many of his acts were done in an effort to live up to his ‘father’s’ standards. Once after learning a kitchen cat was pregnant, Joffrey killed the animal and cut open its belly to see the kittens inside. He showed one of the unborn kittens to his “father”. Robert was so shocked and angry he hit the boy so hard it knocked out two of his baby teeth. It is also implied Joffrey bullied his younger brother Tommen.
